Welcome to the homepage of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE-RAS) Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics (SSRR) Summer School! This event will bring together early career researchers, graduate students and senior undergraduates, along with experts in the field of Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics, for a week of invited talks, practical sessions, tutorials and opportunities for collaboration.
With the financial sponsorship of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society for 2012 and the technical assistance of the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the RoboCupRescue Robot League, this event was hosted at the Response Robot Standard Test Facility in Alanya, Turkey, run by Robolit LLC in partnership with, and adjacent to, the Drita Hotel, Alanya.
The 2012 event was a partner event to the ROS RoboCup Rescue Summer School, held in Graz, Austria in mid-August of 2012. That event focused on bringing people up to speed with the Robot Operating System (ROS) and developing common software architectures and modules suitable for the SSRR community. We have leveraged that event, with speakers presenting a one-day tutorial on ROS and the Gazebo simulator and presenting lectures and practicals to disseminate the software modules that were developed and to help participants integrate them into their own work.
