10-14 September 2012 at the Alanya Response Robot Test Facility
on the grounds of the Drita Hotel in the city of Alanya, in the region of Antalya, Turkey
A Hands-On Summer School on the Real World Challenges
and Best-in-Class Solutions for Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics.
This event will be the venue for the development and dissemination of Best-in-Class solutions for rescue and response robotics. It will leverage technical achievements demonstrated in the Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics (SSRR) community, including in the international RoboCupRescue Robot League competitions, as well as emerging DHS-NIST-ASTM International Standard Test Methods for Response Robots under development by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In the course of practical sessions lead by experts in their fields, attendees will also implement Best-in-Class solutions to be contributed to an ongoing software archive that will benefit not only the RoboCupRescue Robot League but also the wider SSRR research community. This allows capabilities that are too often “locked in” to a particular group's research infrastructure to become more widely disseminated in an open, common architecture. Better yet, by involving attendees from many groups and countries in the development process, many more researchers will have an intimate understanding of these capabilities.
